The Challenge

The Board of Directors of a leading North American food service and hospitality company engaged Brookey & Company to conduct a dual-track engagement: a comprehensive Organizational Assessment (OA) of company operations and executive leadership, alongside a concurrent Board of Directors (BoD) assessment focused on governance, oversight, and strategic alignment. The engagement carried a significant time constraint, with final deliverables due in under 60 days. 

While the two assessments were conducted in parallel, each was delivered through separate channels: 

  • The Board received two written reports— one focused exclusively on Board governance, another on the company’s organizational assessment, and an out-brief covering both sets of recommendations. 

  • The executive leadership team received only the organizational assessment report and a separate brief. Findings specific to the Board assessment remained confidential and were not shared with company management.

Key Objectives 

The assessment focused on five critical areas: executive leadership alignment and talent development, business operations and agility, cultural health and employee engagement, financial stability and investment priorities, and client satisfaction and relationship management. These areas were selected based on their direct impact on the company’s ability to execute on the Board’s strategic direction.
